Current status of clinical research courses in India
Our holy writ of great sages who had deep understandings in
different fields along with medicine. If we talk about current era for the
field of medicine, agriculture, history, science etc. we have number journals,
academic research and thesis of experts and scientists. To determine the future
of any field the relevance of publications has always been the key factor. If
we talk about the clinical
research courses which is the need of the today’s era it include the three
types of research— treatment, prevention and the diagnostic. These three
clinical research factors examine diseases from a unique perspective in order
to improve the patient health.
The ongoing structure
of clinical research courses in India
In 2021, India authorized approximately 100 worldwide
clinical studies and was found to be the highest record since 2013. India also
hosted about 87 worldwide clinical studies in 2020 during the event of COVID crisis.
The New Drug and Clinical Trials [NDCT] guidelines have been passed to manage
the proper clinical research policy by India in March 2019. During the
pandemic, India has shown tremendous growth in clinical testing studies when
compared with the average of a decade from 6.2% to 8.3%. The foremost therapy
domain was contagious diseases with the contribution of a 32.5% share.
Challenges faced in
the industry of clinical research
The current need is to manage the issues regarding the
studies and the publications as they are major contributors in clinical trial
phases. As per the industrial observations, the need to carry out the research
has been put forth. The inefficiencies regarding the current scientific or
research are lagging and are found to be not able to solve the nation’s
persistent problems. The key issues for this are disinterest, no dedication,
facilities, equipment, funding, rewards, restrictions imposed with this they
are lacking the experienced research faculty to supervise students. There is
need to learn about the pharmacovigilance as per the growth of clinical
research sector. Until and unless they we will examine the effects and side
effects about certain clinical trial if they are not aware of the related side
effects. Thus, there is a need of learning the pharmacovigilance
course in order to adapt the perspective of drug as well as patient safety.
There are number of Clinical research courses available that
try to improve the skills of the ambitious students but the results can only be
achieved when the students put their efforts. The strict initiative has been
imposed to highlight this issue. There is compulsion for the PG [MD/MS] and
doctoral [DM/MCh] programs to provide the observational study education for
research and to support the contributors for future important clinical steps.
But the rule has been sanctioned to take the entrance test at several medical
institutions as an ‘’academic formality’’. According to this the Medical Council of India
has made mandatory to present and publish minimum one research paper throughout
the postgraduate courses. This is found to be the one of the most compulsory
requirements for appearing in degree examinations.
Conclusion
The way for the better performance of clinical research and
tackling India’s healthcare concerns requires a turn for the medical student
and the faculty member regarding the academic behavior. It can be solved if we
establish appropriate research queries highlighting to improve the needs of
patients. For the sake of more sustainable healthcare system, we must encourage
and improvise the overall medical research and the published content. We never
know that we will come up with a legendary invention!
